Factors considered during the use of protective gloves

For labor protection gloves, both the factors of the gloves and the external environment of the gloves should be considered during use.
Degree of exposure when gloves are used
If the contact time between labor protection gloves and chemical substances is prolonged, their chemical resistance will be significantly reduced. Increasing the concentration of chemicals exposed, or immersing gloves in chemicals directly, can result in gloves being penetrated in less time than provided by the manufacturer.
2. Ambient temperature using gloves
When using protective gloves, the temperature increases, the penetration rate of chemicals increases, and the penetration time decreases. Standard penetration time data is obtained at room temperature (20 ~ 25 ° C). The chemical resistance of gloves used under this temperature will be greatly reduced.
3. Thickness of protective gloves
In general, if necessary, choose thicker gloves or wear two pairs of gloves at the same time, because thicker materials have better chemical resistance and greatly extend the penetration time. Of course, when considering the thickness of the gloves, the flexibility and feel needed for the work itself must also be considered.
4. Surface treatment and lining of protective gloves
When considering the material of labor protection gloves, the surface treatment and lining of the gloves are also different. There are smooth, rough, embossed and so on. In terms of lining, there are cotton batting, fabrics, etc., and unlined gloves. The patterned, rough surface has better anti-skid performance, and can safely hold wet and smooth objects. Cotton lining and cotton lining have good sweat absorption performance, while fabric lining gloves have good high temperature resistance, while unlined gloves have good flexibility and touch.
5. Possible chemical mixtures
In the penetration experiments, pure chemicals are used. In reality, chemical mixtures can significantly change the penetration rate and physical properties of a given glove material. In general, for chemical mixtures, materials with good anti-permeability properties for each component are selected. However, it is also possible that the penetration time of the mixture is longer than the penetration time of a single component. The user can make a certain evaluation of the ability of the gloves to protect the mixture under the use conditions, especially the more toxic mixtures.
6. Physical properties of labor protection gloves
The physical characteristics of labor protection gloves refer to the puncture resistance, tear resistance, abrasion resistance and tensile strength in use. Chemicals infiltrate through punctured holes or torn gaps, causing more damage to the hand than the penetration of chemicals through the molecular layer. It is sometimes necessary to wear 2 different gloves, one for protection against mechanical injuries and one for protection against chemical injuries.
Therefore, when using labor protection gloves, we should not only pay attention to the performance of the gloves themselves, but also pay attention to the external environment and chemical composition of the gloves, so that the gloves really play a protective role.
